Tips around switching residence-countries (and hence FF programs)

Tips around switching residence-countries (and hence FF programs)

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi,

Currently EU-based. Have gold status on AF Flying Blue.

Will switch to Sydney Australia later in year.

What is the best FF program to join in Australia?
    Qantas? Or Virgin?

Also, should I join Virgin, or should I continue to use my Etihad FF membership? Would it be a waste to (eventually) be (perhaps) flying Virgin around Australia but crediting to Etihad (would those miles not go as far if going to Etihad)?

And is there any way that I can ‘switch’ my gold on SkyTeam / Flying Blue for something equivalent on an Aus-based Oneworld (or other) program? Has that kind of thing ever come up for Australia / Oneworld, though?

    Thanks!

    Neo.
