Time Shares

Time Shares

My husband and I have several friends that have time shares through various hotels (Hilton Grand Vacations) and resorts (Marriott Vacations). We have been looking into and are not sure whether to take the plunge. We live in the mid-west and don’t fly often for business or personal trips. We are looking to go to Italy next year and find that if we take out a time share, we will be able, through hotel points, get the trip for free (excluding airfare).

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

How would the trip be “free”? Do you mean you will use your time share nights in Italy through some sort of exchange program?

timeshares are being made obsolete with the advent of AIRBNB and HOMEAWAY. you aren’t beholden to specific resorts.

many times, the maintenance fees are so expensive that its not worth it.

I would never buy one full price. If you could pick up one at a discount through redweek.com it might be worth it, but only barely.
