Swiss Business class

Swiss Business class

All – do you think it’s worth redeeming PEK to JFK with Swiss business class on their A330s? 20 hours of flying. Stopover is 2 hours 15min in Zurich – may not be enough time. Alternative is to trying to find a way to get direct PEK to JFK going the other way on Air China or some other airline. 20 hours on Swiss’s product seems so long… (10 and 10) vs about 13.5 hours direct. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Swiss business is a decent product but not something I’d go out of my way to spend an extra 10 hours traveling. If you have a comparable non-stop option I would book that.

For what it’s worth I wasn’t impressed with the new 777-300 business class. Not to say it was bad but the catering was poor in my opinion. I agree with @Gaurav that I wouldn’t go out of my way. Can’t get ANA on this route?

I would any day. I just really like Swiss and Zurich. Transfer in Zurich with two hours is more than enough. You’d get to check out their new Business Lounge in the Dock E (I was there a few days ago and the whole terminal was just empty, kinda scary). And their Business on their A330 is decent. Any chance of getting into First Class? (Upgrades only for senators of miles and more though), First is really outstanding. But be aware that Swiss uses their much much older A340 on the Bejing route that does not offer as nice IFE as the A330. Swiss is just way better than Air China, maybe go ANA on the other way?

If you like it, sure but I personally wouldnt go out of my way to fly Swiss J. If it was F, then definitely.

Honestly the Seats reserved for Senators (Row 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12, Seat A on Swiss A330/40, or in an Edelweiss Plane Seat K or in the new 777, Row 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16 Seat A or Rows 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17 Seat K) are great. I would even dare to call them having more space and being neater then herringbone seats.

Nothing beats F though. Even the old A340 F.

While @Adrian L didn’t mention what program the miles are in, I assume they aren’t Miles and More and with a Star Alliance partner. If so F is not available. I recently put up a flight report on my website for Swiss 777 for what it’s worth. I also discuss what @Nick Art talks about with the seating. I hate when airlines do this. Qantas does the same. Fine, if they want to block a few seats, but all of them? Or all the single window seats? QF blocks the whole front cabin on their A330.

LH might also become available this route. I still think ANA is the best option.
