I’m a United Platinum member and I’m debating moving over to American using a Status Match option. A strong reason for this change has been the pilots union getting a concession where flight crews get automatic upgrades to United 1st over all other status levels. I fly almost weekly (even during the pandemic) and have seen the change occur almost immediately.
Is there an optimum time when I should explore seeking out a Status Match? I feel the 2020 holiday season and pandemic situation isn’t the right opportunity to switch, but would appreciate some tips on when’s the right time.
