what should I do with my SPG, now Marriott, points? Have 300,000 SPG points. Should I leave as is until ready to travel, or should I move to another program.

Definitely leave until you’re ready to travel but be aware that transfers are not instant. While I’ve seen reports of faster transfers, it took a week for my points to get transferred to Alaska Airlines.
