SPG or MRW

SPG or MRW

  1. Skdxb Gold

I have around 50000 SPG points in my account and do not know whether I should convert it now into airline miles or wait until next month where there is a one time offer to convert it into Marriott Rewards by a triple conversion rate 1SPG:3 MRW
Any advice would be greatly appreicated

    What one time offer?

Come August 1st, all Starpoints automatically convert to Marriott at 1 to 3 – you’ll have 150k Marriott points. If you wanted to transfer to airlines, the 5k bonus for transferring 20k remains the same. Transferring 60k Marriott points will have a bonus of 15k points, which all convert 3 to 1 for a total of 25k miles – exactly the same SPG transfer rate from before.

If you need to convert to airline miles, it wont really matter when you do it. For hotel award nights, it may make sense to wait until Aug 1 since many properties will cost less than they would if booked now with Starpoints and/or when the new Marriott Category 8/Peak/Off-Peak charts begin in 2019.
