Singapore or Hong Kong to LAX or SFO

Hello Lucky and crew,
My friend and I would like to travel January or February from either Singapore or Hong Kong to LAX or SFO using Singapore Airlines. I started playing around with the site these last few days and award travel is booked already for one year out (Dec 29) except for waitlist. Should I be looking one year out for my upcoming travel or a shorter time period? Do I need to be more diligent in signing in multiple times a day to book this travel-is the current rush due to Christmas travel or just that more people are trying to book now due to AA upcoming devaluation (i.e. They have points like me for one way aa, and chase or citi or Amex for the other way). Should I do anything differently? Thanks and sorry for the rambling post.

That’s not uncommon, especially around that time of year. It’s always tough to find award availability from Dec 18 to the first Sunday in January. Always.

You might want to look at booking one saver and one standard ticket, that’s sometimes the best strategy for SQ F anyway.

Good luck!

Thanks Tiffany! What is the strategy behind booking one standard ticket (standard I assume are more miles)-that later a saver ticket becomes available and at that point I switch and am credited for the extra miles? Are two first class tickets end of January or February tough to acquire?
