Should I credit my Etihad First Class miles to Etihad Guest or American Aadvantage program?
Hi Lucky,
Long time reader, first time poster 🙂
Keen for your thoughts on the following:
– My wife and I are currently living in London, and she has been working for an Asian carrier the past year, so recently we typically do not collect many miles as we fly stand-by with her airline unless we suspect low availability and have a fixed date schedule
– For our honeymoon next month, we decided to treat ourselves to Etihad First Class from LHR to SYD (your review and photos sealed the deal there ;))
– We were wondering whether it would be better to credit these miles to Etihad Guest or American Aadvantage. We were thinking American, just because it’d be useful to collect miles to facilitate flying business at some point from LHR to the States (rather than fly through Asia to get the benefits)
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks very much
American, for sure. The Etihad Guest program is pretty useless in 90% of cases.
Thanks Tiffany! What about Aadvantage vs Korean Air SkyPass (given I could use the miles on Delta for example)?
@25daytraveller it really depends on your future plans. I would build in the program you are most likely to use overall in the future, with an eye on earning rates and travel plans since small amounts of miles spread out among many programs are not much use.
