separately booked IB and LA tix – possible to check thru luggage?

    Hey guys,

thanks to some great advice in this forum I was able to score an upgrade with IB from MAD to MVD in C. I am however based in FRA and currently checking options for positioning flights to MAD. A great option would be the LAN Dreamliner which offers a super cheap business class fare and would basically make the whole trip business class 🙂

The catch is however that the IB flight departs at 23:55 and the LA flight would only arrive in MAD at 22:05. If I had to collect my check-in luggage and check it back in for the IB flight in MAD I don’t think 1h50m will be enough, especially given the long walking distances in MAD’s terminal 4. Do you have any experience on whether it’s possible to combine two separately booked oneworld tickets in order to check-in luggage already in FRA all the way to MVD?

    Many thanks for your help!

It is technically possible, though in practice will depend upon the check-in agent you get in Frankfurt.
