Searching for a specific fare class (on ITA Matrix or other search engines)

Searching for a specific fare class (on ITA Matrix or other search engines)

    Hi all,
Does anybody know how to search for flights on a specific airline on a specific fare class? I am not very familiar with ITA Matrix, but I believe this should be doable. I have read a couple of posts with guides on doing this (including this one from TPG) and tried to apply them myself, but to no success. I get the following error message: “Illegal faring spec: unexpected end of string”. I have tried inserting one and more outbound/inbound airports, searched on exact and flexible dates, changing to alternate fare classes and other airlines and making small changes to the code; but nothing. I always get the same message. FWIW I have attached one of routing codes I used (which is the one I am searching for.

Would very much appreciate any help on how to do this or suggestions about other search engines and methods where this can be done 🙂

I’m not able to see the attachment but Scott over at Travel Codex has a series of posts about using ITA Matrix. I agree what you’re trying to do sounds like it should be possible so maybe these posts will help. This is the overview and there are links to more advanced searches at the bottom of this first post:

In the end after fiddling around I noticed there is a syntax assistant next to each advanced control box (oops). Managed to pull the fares up. Thanks @MidSouth Skier
