I’m assuming you mean Fiumicino and not Ciampino but in either case, I’ve used both airports many times, usually three or four times a year and I’ve never had any issues. I read that they arrested five baggage handlers for luggage theft at FCO last fall. These events occur at most airports and the best advice is to never put anything of great value in a checked bag.
