Reserving BA Business class seats with Oneworld Ruby status

Reserving BA Business class seats with Oneworld Ruby status

1. Daniel B Gold

My wife has AA Gold status. We will soon travel on BA, and in the past I always reserved our seats just 24 hrs before departure. I have just read in a blog that: “Holders of the following elite statuses can select British Airways Business Class seats for free 7 days before departure: British Airways Bronze elites, Oneworld Ruby elites”.
Since she is AA Gold, that translates to Oneworld Ruby I believe. But how do we go about selecting the seats? Her AA number is on the BA reservation, but it does not display her elite status.
Has anyone done this online, or do I have to call BA?
Thanking you.

I’d say in 10+ flights in BA Biz, I’ve been able to select seats online once (as a oneworld sapphire). I call, every time.

Are you or your wife logged in to the BA site when trying to do this? I have a BAEC # and am also OW Emerald (through AA). If I am logged in to the BA site, my reservations won’t show my AA/OW status unless I logout. Does that make sense?

So I guess the advice is to call and not bother trying to do it online 🙂

I did not log in, just used the BA record locator and her name at BA’s website. AA FF number does show up, but not her status. Maybe as rickyw implied, the best thing is to call.
