Renewing Global Entry
Hi all,
I just got the notice that my renewal application was approved, however my ID still says it expired July 31, 2017. Do I have to do anything to get my new ID or will they just send it to me? How long does it take after approval? Thanks!!
They’ll send a new Global Entry card — took me about as long after approval as the initial one did (2 weeks maybe?). You should see the “real” expiry in your goes account. Of course, you only really need the actual card if you want to use nexus lanes driving back into the US.

I wondered what the card was that they sent out with GOES. Do I need to take it to Europe this Fall? Do you need passport, too, when coming and going to Canada? Thanks!!
You shouldn’t need the GOES card going to/from Europe though I keep mine with my passport. I’ve never had to show it anywhere since the machines take your fingerprints so they’ll know whether you have GE or not.

Just to add, you do need your passport when going to or from Canada. If you live in a border state/province you can get a special “enhanced” drivers license, but if you have a passport, just use that.
