Renew Delta Amex?

Renew Delta Amex?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Lucky,

I just got hit with the annual fee for my Delta Gold Amex (personal). I fly Delta only a few x’s per year these days as I’ve moved my status to Alaska.

My question is: should I pay the fee, transfer to another card, or quit the card altogether?

I hold the personal Platinum, Blue Business, SPG, and both Hilton Amex cards in addition to the Delta card.

I’ve had the card for two years, and I don’t feel like I’m getting any value from it. I put no spend on it, and I’d need to check a bag 4x just to cover the annual fee. Never seem to be any Offers of any value to me attached to the card either.

Anything I’m not seeing here? Should I just cancel? Any bearing on my credit or my standing with Amex? Thanks!

Based on the items you’ve mentioned, I’d cancel it. Since you’ve only had it for 2 years, cancelling it won’t hurt your average age of accounts very much. I should probably cancel mine for exactly the same reasons!
