Rebooking DL award after schedule change

Rebooking DL award after schedule change

  1. andimalc New Member

Wonder if anyone has any advice/insight for this schedule change rebooking problem — booked ORD-PVG-DEL in business all on MU, departing in several months. MU changed the schedule on PVG-DEL to cause a misconnect (or a 19hour connection) — and so DL auto-rebooked me on an AI flight just one hour later, which is no problem. However, they only rebooked me on that AI flight into coach, and after several calls are insistent that there is no way to book into business for that leg because “they don’t have the inventory.” Of course it’s more complex than that since DL doesn’t have a mileage relationship with AI in the first place. Any advice on how to get this rebooked into business — anything specific to ask for, etc.? Thanks!

That’s an interesting dilemma. I wouldn’t usually expect DL to book into AI. Personally I’d look for other options or ask DL to try to open up space on their flights to connect to something via AF or KLM via Europe. Probably your best bet.

Likewise, I was quite surprised this was how they handled it in the first place! This was also a strategy I considered but I haven’t been able to find any AF/KL space to connect to.

    Hi @andimalc, and welcome!

I would definitely call again, and gently insist to be rebooked on a SkyTeam partner. They should be able to work something out with AF or KL, or potentially China Airlines. Rebooking into coach on Air India is weird.

Thanks, Tiffany! I found some other possibilities with AF or CZ via ExpertFlyer that I’m going to call back and try to arrange — AF in particular would be nice because the overall trip is a decent bit shorter. Of course neither will price correctly on their website, so we’ll see how the call goes…. hahah
