Hi Ben – My gf and I are considering a trip to SIN and Bali for Thanksgiving. We unfortunately will only have about a week and a half. Plan would be to leave the US the Wed. prior to thanksgiving (getting into SIN about 1a on Fri), spending Fri/Sat/Sun in Singapore (2.5 or 3 days, 3 or 4 nights in SIN total), and fly to Bali late Sunday or first thing Monday. We’d be in Bali until Friday night (4 or5 days, 4 or 5 nights in Bali), when we’d begin heading back to the U.S (arrive SIN late night Fri. and stay at airport, leave for US via NRT first thing Sat. morning).
I’ve never been to SIN or Bali before and know you love Bali. Do you think that this sounds like too short of a trip to see Bali (obviously, it is shorter than I’d like, but …)? Would you arrange your time between SIN and Bali differently than I have proposed here?
Have you been to Bali in the rainy season? Any sense of how “bad†Bali is in November, rain wise? (I’ve been to SE Asia a number of times during the fall, so I don’t mind rain and humidity but am curious when you’ve been.)
Finally, if Amans are not in my budget, what area(s) of Bali would you recommend staying in?
Thanks as always!
@ Elliot — Definitely on the short side, but I’d say it’s still worth it. I’ve certainly taken shorter trips than that to Bali. I might cut a day out of Singapore and add a day in Bali, but overall that sounds great to me. The rainy season isn’t usually too bad. It’ll rain heavily in the afternoons for a bit, but that’s about it.
As far as areas of Bali go, do you have a preferred hotel chain if you weren’t going to stay at an Aman? Lots of great options in Bali.
