I am trying to figure out if I should take the time/effort to redeem some US Airways miles this week before the merge. Problem is, the only trip I have planned where I think they might be useful is a trip to Turkey (which may include a side trip to Georgia or Armenia) in April 2016. Which would mean changing dates and paying that fee somewhere down the line (unless AA doesn’t charge fees?) I was thinking maybe Royal Jordanian through Amman in business might be a nice flight to try to redeem US Airways miles for — but if you transit through AMM would that could as Middle East or Europe since Turkey is your final destination? Anyway, might just wait for the merge but wanted to get your thoughts. Based in DC.
@ Lauren — Tickets are only valid for a year from the date of issue, so that wouldn’t work anyway, since the furthest out you could extend your ticket is March 2016. So your only real option is to book through AAdvantage.
