Question 1214

    Hi Lucky,

I just stumbled across your site and got sucked in. Read your “Start Here” section and a few trip reports and it fantastic! I’m looking to start in this hobby and I live in Canada(Toronto) and was wondering which miles or points program(s) I should invest in? I want to start flying internationally in business and hopefully first one day! I currently only have a Amex Flying Blue card. Aeroplan is pretty big up here, but everyone complains about their availability and taxes and fees, but I feel that it’s necessary if you fly out of Canada. I was also thinking of concentrating on Amex MR but they only have a 1:1 transfer to Aeroplan and Avios. Or would you recommend just getting a SPG Amex for the flexibility? Is there something obvious I’m missing? We don’t have as many credit card options as the States. Any advice would be great! I look forward to reading your site when I get home from work every day now. 🙂

@ Allan — Welcome and thanks for reading! Ultimately in Canada I’d say your best bet is the SPG Amex. That gives you a ton of flexibility and transfer partners, so is an option that’s tough to beat, in my opinion.
