I’m hoping your experience will enable you to guide me in an unusual situation 🙂
I called this morning to arrange seating for three pax on our Turkish Airlines reservation SFO-IST. I had booked on line before 100 days out so I couldn’t select seats then.
The gentleman confirmed our details and that the equipment was a 3-3-3 configuration in Economy. I stated that we preferred the center three “as far forward as possible.”
He said “How about Row 14 DEG on the outbound. Do you want the Bulkhead on the return?” I confirmed that the bulkhead was row 11 (I’m looking @ the SeatGuru map) and said declined. He followed with “How about Row 12 DEG?”
I caught my breath, saying Sure. These seats are in Economy Comfort (premium economy)…way forward. As much as I’d like to sit up there for these 13 hour flights I’m more concerned that some kind of audit will occur resulting in a giant payment due on check-in…or worse, the seats get cancelled and we get scattered all over the wayback of the plane.
So I said to George “Aren’t those seats in Economy Comfort?” He answered “No Madam…they’re regular Economy.”
He said that they’re not able to provide any email confirmation of the seats and that they won’t show on the website booking data. We won’t see the seats until check-in 24 hours before the flights.
What would you do? Thanks for your good work.
@ Joan — Turkish also operates a version of the 777-300ER without premium economy, which is what is operating your flight. There’s no premium economy on the route.
