Question 1133

Question 1133

  1. Anonymous

Hi, I’m curious as to what you recommend for me to do in this scenario… This year I plan to fly to China at least 4 times (probably 6-7 but I’m being conservative) and from there I will probably take trips to Singapore and Hong Kong. I fly out of San Jose using ANA and connect via NRT. This will put me into Ana Bronze/Star Alliance Silver for the year, if I use ANA 3 times, and ANA Platinum/Star Alliance Gold for the year, if I use ANA at least 5 times.

Hainan airlines will be introducing SJC to PEK in June, this will be very convenient, but they’re not part of any major alliance. Would you recommend staying with ANA to get the Star Alliance benefits? I don’t fly United domestically, and I plan on taking one flight via Lufthansa in October. The majority of my traveling would be to China and back.

@ Quezar — Are you booking discounted economy tickets, paid business class, or somewhere inbetween? I might stick with ANA for the elite benefits with Star Alliance.
