Am planning ahead for a trip to China in 2017 and want to be sure to have enough miles in the correct program. We’d fly into Beijing and out of Shanghai or vice-versa. I was thinking about CX but since all their flights route via HKG it seemed it would take an extra day to get there & back. Same seems to be true with SQ. We’d probably want to use DFW, IAH or ORD as our gateways. What do you think are our best choices for business class? AA is nice in that it has non-stops to both cities but we want to be sure we have lie-flat seats. One of us will use miles while the other will buy a ticket.
@ Lea — I’d still route via Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific in your shoes. It’s only a detour of a few hours and shouldn’t really take a full extra day in each direction.
