Question 1106

Question 1106

  1. Anonymous

    Hi Ben

I have 2 quick queries. Please help with your expert advice 🙂

    1. As per my current travel plans which are 99% certain, by mid October this year I shall have 14 stays and 43 nights with SPG (I’ll hit SPG Gold for the first time in my life in 1 week…woohoo !!). Is it worth going for 7 more nights before 31st Dec to earn SPG platinum until Feb 2016 ? (I can book those 8 nights for as low as $75 per night including taxes)

    2. My dad has roughly 12 nights of SPG stay in May and June. If I book those stays with my SPG account and SPG number but put his name in guest details, and I’m not the one travelling/staying, will I earn stay/night credit towards my SPG status ? Would choosing a fully paid or flexible pay later rate make any difference ?

I hope I was able to explain my query clearly. Looking forward to your help 🙂

@ Keya — Yes, I’d say it’s worth making an extra seven stays to earn Platinum, given how cheap you can make the stays for. This assumes that you have a fair number of Starwood stays coming up next year.

As far as the second question goes, see here:

Best chance is booking reservation in your name and adding him as the second guest.
