Qatar stopover program a flop ?
Lucky. I booked an economy promo revenue ticket on QR JFK-AMM which (according to my ticket number) is eligible for the stopover program.
I booked a 5-star hotel (about 3 weeks before the trip) for $30 US dollars under the program. My credit card was charged accordingly, I was supposed to receive a confirmation from Discover Qatar. That confirmation never came and I noticed weeks later that the room charge was no longer on my credit card. Just a day before the trip, I was told by QR to mention this at JFK at check in, and the check in agents there told me to ask at DOH. Upon arriving at DOH, the reps there advised me the economy promo tickets do not qualify for the stopover program and offered to book me at Best Western at full cost to me. Upset and exhausted, I did not escalate it there. The next day when catching our connecting flight, another QR told me the ticket does qualify for the stopover program.
It’s worth noting several emails to Discover Qatar asking for an explanation have gone unanswered. On top of that, being given wrong info leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth regarding QR service.
