Qantas FF – prem economy to Europe

Qantas FF – prem economy to Europe

  1. Herardo New Member

Hi, my girlfriend (separate name) and I have a combined 300,000 FF points.
For our Euro trip, we want to use/upgrade to Prem Econ or Business, certainly for the long haul portions from Oz and back to Oz. We are Melb-based.

We plan to visit Glasgow, Lisbon and Paris, but in no particular order (ie fully flexible for our inter-Europe transfers)

Whats the best way for us to ensure we secure Prem Econ/Business seats (ie try using points only, or book seats and try for upgrades) ?

We’re not savvy users of points to date, so welcome your experience and insights thanks.

    hi herado.

unfortunately you don’t have enough point for a return award ticket for the both you as PE is 192,000 return per person.
best bet is to get more points or pay cash, there are quite a few cheap premium fares around.
you could also request an upgrade but as your not ( I’m assuming) a gold or higher FF your chances are pretty slim on the upgrade coming through, as qantas uses a lottery system that prioritises elites and only confirms unto 24 hours out.

would look at changing your future points accumulation to somewhere other than qantas

    Thanks freshthoughts,

In fact, at the time of year we want it’s showing as 300,000+ each to go PE. We may pay cash with another carrier; seems these Qantas points are not worth much, and the system is prejudiced towards ‘points richer’ travellers. Ta for ur help

    ahhh, herado
it sounds like you have made a classic mistake.
award flights don’t change price, they’re fixed
it seems however that you have used the pay with points option which represents a far worse per-point value, the only use in it is that theres guaranteed availability as it buys any seat available and also awards status credits and points.

to find award seat you have to click the search classic award box in the booking section.
