Qantas F tickets for points…Never available

Qantas F tickets for points…Never available

  1. Anonymous Guest

I travel the Asian routes and occasionally to UK. I pay for some tickets if there is a deal but use Asiamiles frequently and the SYD-HKG direct route is served by CX and QF only. CX cancelled their First Class service some time back and there are Business class seats generally available. Often its important to get a seat any day and then check availability on your preferred date, then rock up and take your standby chances. CX are sensible about this and let you take a free seat but QF are quite different.
I stood at the QF check in with a F ticket collected on miles but for a different date.
“I know this is the wrong date but any chance of getting on this flight?”
Let me check Sir….Yes, you are lucky as there are 6 seats available.
‘Oh dear this is a redemption ticket and there aren’t any redemption seats available. If you go to the CX desk they will make one available”
CX said that QF would charge them a full fare to do so but QF when I went back to explain to QF they said
“Well I can’t do anything for you Sir”
…but there will be 6 empty seats on your plane in 90 minutes’ ….smile from girl
If I buy a full price EY ticket now can you sell me one ad upgrade me to F?
    No….I won’t do that, Sir
That’s what I call No customer service and less intelligence.
Notwithstanding I persevere in my attempts to get my SYD-HKG travel on QF as an Asiamiles partner but even though I offer to travel any day in the next 365 there are none available, yet the service is ostensibly offered on the Asiamiles website.
I questioned this some time back but apart from a computer reply with a reference number I am still waiting for a reply.
Please help me mount a complaint against these BS offers that their owners don’t really want to offer and make impossible to achieve.
There is a post script to this story that the CX flight left 30 mins later than the QF one I was trying for and I had another Asiamiles CX J Class ticket with the wrong date on it.
“I have a J Class redemption CX ticket but the date is wrong….any chance I can get on your CX162?
‘Let me check Sir…..That seems no problem…..Here is your boarding pass and I’m sure you know where the lounge is’
    Quel difference.
Why would anyone let a flight go with an empty seat and a disgruntled ticket holder left to find a competitor.
I would like to name and shame but more selfishly I would prefer the F Class on QF which shouldn’t surprise
