RickD New MemberI’ve earned enough Elevate miles from past VA promos to exchange into some other points currency (since I’ve never flown, nor do I intend to fly, VA). I’ve tried to exchange 1,000 Elevate points from VA to IHG, but points.com always tells me that I don’t have enough points to complete the exchange (before it asks me how many I want to exchange). Points.com tells me the minimum exchange is 1,000 points — which is fine. (My Elevate balance is 1,750.) I realize that the exchange won’t be 1:1, and the loss of miles will be semi-significant, but even if it results in 10 IHG points in the end, I’ll consider myself ahead. I’ve emailed points.com about my repeated attempts, but they’re clueless and referred the issue to their tech staff a week ago with no answer yet. I wonder if VA has a policy not to allow points to be exchanged if the Elevate account owner doesn’t have actual butt-in-seat miles. Anyone know?
