Oneworld (Qatar/American) lounge access when arriving in business but departing economy
Hello all – Just a quick question regarding an upcoming award flight from DOH-USA. We’re flying Qatar business class from DOH-ORD and then have a long layover before our final domestic connection (economy) home.
I referred to Lucky’s guide on lounge access and it states for Oneworld flights:

Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either first of business class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
I just wanted to double check that I’m reading that correctly and that I should have lounge access in ORD before our final domestic flight (even though that flight is in economy).
Thanks!
And as an afterthought – if there are business class seats available on that domestic connection (revenue/AAnytime awards) would we have any chance of getting that last leg upgraded on the day of travel if seats remain? Or would we need to find released SAAver space (lol – good luck, right?)
Yes, you’d have Admiral’s Club access in Chicago. And yes, you’d need SAAver space, as you said, good luck 🙂
