New Delhi: Are high alert security conditions still in effect for departing passengers?

New Delhi: Are high alert security conditions still in effect for departing passengers?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Oh hi!

I have an international departure from DEL coming up tomorrow, Friday August 23rd, and am trying to figure out how early I need to arrive for my flight. Are 4 hours still necessary? I fly out of there a lot and am usually through security within 15 minutes of arriving, then bored out of my mind for however long I have to wait in an airport with very little to recommend it. Would strongly prefer not to languish there for any more hours than I have to.

BUT in the wake of August 5th’s news about the repeal of Article 370, there was much discussion of increased tensions between Delhi and Kashmir putting the airport on high alert, requiring passengers to arrive 4 hours early or risk missing their flights. Many news stories, many warnings from friends, and two official tweets from @DelhiAirport on August 7th.

BUT, since then, total silence. From what I can tell, no living human, in a capacity official or otherwise, has publicly mentioned this whole thing since the initial warning and the news flurry it immediately produced. Would like to think that means everything is back to normal – but is no news good news in India too, or just news that has not been reported or followed up on?

How can I know whether or not the more severe regulations, which indeed sounded onerous, are still in effect? Has anybody been there in the last few days? Does anybody have a lead on where can I go for more info, other than way to early to the Airport itself?

You all are very super wonderful, and I thank you for any help you can help to help me.
