    In late June, I booked Emirates A380 RT DFW-DXB-BAH Business Class as a 30 year anniversary trip. The sole reason for booking the flight was to fly the A380. Emirates had pulled out the A380 in the spring and were using a 777. They announced that they were bringing it back into service at DFW in late Aug. On the Emirates web site I selected/ booked my flights which were clearly showing A380 service. I picked my seats, and charged the credit card.

    About 2 weeks later (mid July), I see your article on OMAAT they are not going to be bringing the A380 back into DFW as had been announced. I reviewed my reservation on the Emirates website and it had been changed to a 777, and new seats had been assigned. I have never received any notification, email or announcement of the equipment change. So far I have contacted Customer Service Email 4 times, explaining the situation, each time only getting the response that they have the right to an equipment change, and I should contact 800 reservations to see about re-booking and they will waive the change fee. I even got the tel number for the New York Sales Office and he referred me to the website or 800 Rez. Not flying the A380 totally negates the reason for making the trip. And I do understand that the airline has the right to change equipment.

    After contacting 800 Rez 3 times, (asking to be connected to a Supervisor, and was told that they have talked with the supervisor and refused to let me talk to one) and even offering each time to pay my own way to LAX, DC, or JFK, to be on the A380, even in one direction, I get no sympathy They insist they have to re-write the ticket, and now since we are with-in 60 days of the flight they will have to charge me the new fare which is now a $3000 additional charge. This has really put a bad taste in my mouth about Emirates.

    I’m a FF with Star Alliance, Sky Team and One World, but Emirates is not part of any alliance so in addition to making a trip I don’t need to make on Emirates, I’m not even getting any miles I can use.

    Any suggestions on my situation?
