Mobile Passport vs. Global Entry

Mobile Passport vs. Global Entry

I saw Mobile Passport at MIA just yesterday. I did some google-ing (can I use that “word”?) and came up with this:

    http://www.mobilepassport.us/

Thoughts? Would this be a good alternative to Global Entry? I mean it’s free and it while slight more cumbersome, it might be good for not infrequent, but not frequent flyers. Discuss.

I used it before getting GE. My airport was O’hare and I think I used it 4 times. Each time there was a specific lane for Mobile Passport and it was empty. EACH time I was directed to that lane but there was no agent manning the station. However I was allowed to move in front to the line that had agents. Maybe this has changed.

A process I found odd is that once you submit the mobile information you have 4 hours to clear. So that means unless you have an internet connection on the plane you have to submit it when landing. Not a big deal but thought I’d point that out.

You won’t get TSA Pre with Mobile Passport. And you probably can’t use it through Canada connections or in foreign countries like AUH that pre clear GE customers. Otherwise its’ a fine alternative I think.
