Minimum Spend after Refund

Minimum Spend after Refund

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Lucky,

I recently applied for the SPG Business with the 30K signup bonus with the $5K minimum spend. I used the card last month for about a $200 charge for an addendum on my auto insurance policy and didn’t think anything of it. After another two weeks my auto insurer ended up canceling my policy altogether, refunding the $200 I had just spent using my SPG as well as about $1,500 of my remaining premium (that I had paid for with a different card).

So my question is that I have currently spent about $4,500 on the card not including the refunded $200, but I was refunded $1,500 that was never spent on this card. Does that mean I still need $2,000 spend to meet the $5K? Or is the $1,500 refund treated like a payment and I only need $500 more.

    Thank you,

It should be $5k in net purchases, so you’ll need to spend more, unfortunately.

That would be really annoying. Have you tried to contact the insurance company to see if they can put the large charge back on the correct card?
