Mileage Plus phantom space
After checking aeroplan and MP, both showed TAP availability from SFO to LIS. I selected my family’s itinerary and transferred 400k UR points to United. I put in all the pax details, credit card info, and clicked the purchase button. After processing and error came back. I tried a couple different dates and one way vs RT, all with the same results.
I finally called United who went through the entire process with me over the phone and they got the same results. They said TAP will not ticket the class J outbound and they cannot call them.
My frustration is that I now transferred 400k points that I cannot use for alternatives on KLM. Can the transfer be reversed if I complain? Is there any point in contacting TAP? What should I have done differently?

That is a bummer. Next time put the United award tickets on hold, and only transfer the UR points to United after you have confirmation that the tix are on hold.
Is one of the things for redeem miles that make me angry. Btw, this phantom problem is occure everywhere, not just United.
