May/June J Award to FCO from US East Coast
Happy New Year, All!
I have a Marriott (pre-devaluation) Travel Package in Rome the first week of June. The only award space I can find via LifeMiles is via TAP. Not the best reputation… Looking for some advice here…do I jump on that or wait and hope for something else in J to open up? I was hoping to score an LH F flight home FCO-BOS/EWR/JFK/PHL)…do I have a shot at that close in? 2 tickets is what I need.
Thank you for your savvy thoughts!!!
Paul
I’d book now, and hope for something else to open up. To get ideal routings and carriers for June travel you would have ideally booked by November, and it’s unlikely that anything better will open up until a week or so before departure.

Thank you, Tiffany. So…you would definitely book now and not expect something better to materialize is what I am understanding. Do you think I have a shot at LH F on the way back June 8th? PS: I got my master’s at GU…I miss Clinkerdagger’s and White House Grill in Post Falls…ahhhhh…the garlic!
You can always pay a change fee if something better opens up, but June is very busy for transatlantic travel, so I wouldn’t expect anything ๐
LH F is such a crapshoot these days, but as you’re flexible with your arrival city that should help!

With gracious thanks…

Hi Tiffany-Just a quick update. I was actually able to book SWISS FCO-ZRH-BOS in J back on Feb 8th. I’ll keep my eyes open for LH F starting a couple weeks out from our return. Do you know what kind of penalty LifeMiles would impose if we changed airlines/tickets?
Thank you for your knowledge!
Paul
Sometimes it’s $25, but more likely you’d have to cancel and redeposit and rebook, in which case it’s like $150? LifeMiles is mysterious with fees.
Thank you, Tiffany. I had to cancel some EVA Air tickets earlier and had a $200 charge per ticket–but I did not rebook. Anyway, I asked because I wasn’t finding the information I was looking for on their website. Thank you again for your reply. Best, Paul
