Marriott Spend Tracking and Points Credit
Dear Ben
Great job. Been a reader and follower for a long time.
Wanted to get your opinion and tips. As Bonvoy Ambassador Elite, I look at my base points posted after each stay and compare to my hotel bill (Base points / 10 should give you qualified spend) to ensure correct credit and track my spending toward Ambassador qualification. I always feel that the base points posted are around 20% short of what they should be. I try to deduct taxes and govt. fees from the total bill to estimate qualified spend, but always notice that posted points come short compared to what was spent. Am I not looking at qualified spend correctly or is Bonvoy IT short changing members. Perhaps you can do a post on how figure out qualified spend and how to ensure full proper credit is posted.
I can send you specific cases with points posted and copies of hotel bills for these stays if you would like to see more details.
You can contact me at ([email protected]) should you wish.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

“Qualifying spend” can be somewhat different across different brands within Marriott

Would that play into why you’re seeing differences?
If that’s not the case, I’d email Bonvoy for clarification & getting the correct amount of points.
It also seems like their IT is still a hot mess from the merger.
