Marriott Points direct to Qatar Miles

Marriott Points direct to Qatar Miles

  1. Oliver1 New Member

Hi team. Have a bit of a dilemma and could use some advice. I am looking to get my wife and I to Tanzania next year from LAX. My wife has almost 500K Marriott Points and I was considering taking the hit and converting them to airline miles to soften the $$ blow. Typically we fly AA and leverage the Aadvantage program, but after poking around, it seems like I may be further ahead to convert directly to Qatar in the hopes of more availability, easier booking, etc.

    What do you think?

Hi Oliver, Qatar Privilege Club isn’t exactly an industry leading program. I think AA is still by far the best way to book awards on Qatar. You could also transfer your Marriott points to Japan Airlines and book Qatar, but I don’t think the rates are any better than AA, so you may as well put the points in a program you could use long-term?
