Shannon New MemberI recently upgraded my Marriott card to the brilliant card. My card anniversary is January 28 and I upgraded it today. After talking to several American Express employees they confirmed that I would pay a prorated annual fee now and another when my card anniversary appears. They also said I would receive one $300 Marriott credit now and another one after January 28. They said I would have to use the first credit before January 28. Since that is a very short time, what options do I have? I’ve heard some people have had good luck with buying a gift card but didn’t want to risk it if it doesn’t work. I also considered doing a prepaid rate but I’ve heard often Marriott doesn’t charge these until you stay even though they said it charges immediately. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
