Lufthansa First Class Terminal access

Lufthansa First Class Terminal access

    Hi Lucky,

Looking to book an award ticket IAD > FCO (via FRA). IAD>FRA is in LH first, and based on historical availability, it appears that FRA>FCO will only be available in economy. Will I be able to access the FCT? I understand access is granted if continuing journey is in highest available class, but am unclear whether I’ll have FCT access if FRA>FCO is only available in economy, as opposed to business. LH website reads:

    (1) Access to the First Class Terminal at Frankfurt Airport is only possible with a confirmed same-day departing First Class flight on Lufthansa or SWISS.

Can you confirm access rules if inbound flight is First and same-day outbound flight is Economy?

    Thanks!

No access whatsoever in this case. LH tries to limit FCT access by blocking intra-European award space in business class, a known issue for years. Paid travel automatically books into business though, if FCT access is important consider a paid ticket instead.

I was under the impression that access is granted if you arrived on LH F and had a same day connection on LH, LX or OS.

    Hi David,

Thanks. That’s why I’m confused. The language from that post has me believe it’s possible when in economy, but the answer is in response to a question about connecting to Business class – hence the confusion and why I’m looking for help!

I think that was a mock question to illustrate a different class of travel. You should be OK.

Hey folks, I also have a question about FCT access. If I book a flight from FRA-MUC-ORD with the FRA-MUC leg being Lufthansa business and then connect to Lufthansa first class for the MUC-ORD leg, do I get access to the FCT?

  7. David W Community Ambassador

Yes, if you have a same day connection.

    This is not accurate.

Hi @JimR and @DeathChurch, and welcome!

As long as you have a same day connection to/from LH F, and are connecting to/from a LH group airline, you will be granted access. The class of service for the connection doesn’t matter.

Thanks @Tiffany and @David W for the answers. The flight I’m thinking of taking goes FRA-MUC in business and then after about a two hour layover connects to first class on MUC-ORD with both flights being Lufthansa. Thanks for letting me know. I look forward to checking out the FCT!

A 2 hour layover is kind of short for the FCT. It’s not in the main terminal and takes a bit of walking to get to so you’ll have a limited visit. Do enjoy it though!

  12. DeathChurch New Member

The two hour layover is in Munich. I’ll check out the FCT before the business class flight from FRA-MUC.

    Oh, whoops, my mistake!
