Lufthansa F 1000$ “special fees”, on United? WTF
Looking at options for an upcoming trip and it seems Lufthansa is charging a special fee to ALL first class awards of 900 to 1000$ from any airport world wide (using United miles). Even from airports that have traditionally been havens from such fees, such as Tokyo and Hong Kong. Does this look like the new standard?
Thx!
Hey Garrett, do you have a screenshot where you’ve seen this? United typically doesn’t pass on fuel surcharges on any award tickets.
Interesting, I just booked and flew LH F from Boston on Friday, no surcharges.

Special fees seem to be only for first class not business. Garrett

Tiffany,
I believe I just figured it out…United’s website automatically adds the cost of buying miles onto the cost of the award if you are low on miles. That’s what Im hoping is going on. Thanks
Garrett
