Long Baggage Delay on SQ in J

Long Baggage Delay on SQ in J

First off, love the blog! A quick question that maybe you all can help with. It may be a subject of a future post (how to deal with bag delays)? My wife and I flew SQ in J from PEK-MEL with a brief stop in SIN. My wife’s bag was lost, having never been loaded in PEK. It took the airline 10 days to return it to us. The long delay meant that we had to incur considerable cost to buy my wife clothes and supplies (she only had what she was wearing).

We have insurance via the Chase Sapphire Reserve, but we feel that the airline should take some responsibility. They gave us $150AUD on the day of, but that doesn’t seem enough. This is especially true as a business class customer. I’ve reached out to the airline via the contracted luggage handlers, the airline’s customer service dept at Changi, the US website via feedback and twitter. All to no avail as of this writing. Do you have any other advice or contacts you could share?

It doesn’t seem to be talked about much, but delayed/lost baggage can be a big problem. I know it’s best to carry-on, but this isn’t really a feasible solution for trips that are longer than 7-10 days.

    TIA!

That sounds tough. I would use the elliott.org corporate contacts to further your request.

10 days? That is ridiculous. 🙁

I agree that Singapore should compensate you more than $150AUD, but I would start with CSR’s protection – get as much as you can, and then scan and send receipts for the total amount to whatever contact you can get from elliot.org. Ask SQ to cover the difference.
