Korean 748 First
Hi Ben,
I’m a long time follower. I feel like you know more than just about anyone out there, so here goes.
1) A comment. I’m about to experience the first class cabin on Korean’s new 747-8i JFK – ICN. Then 77W to HKG. I’m so excited! I liked your trip report on the 388; it’ll be interesting to see how this brand new plane/suite compares. I’m the only one in the F cabin on both flights. I’d be happy share some pictures if you’re interested. There are very few online. No trip reports I’m aware of.
2) Advice. My girlfriend is on the same flights. In coach. She insists that she sleeps the whole flight and has no interest in champagne or caviar. But I’ve convinced her that life is short and it’ll be way more fun if she gets into a premium seat. I’ve never been on the upper deck of a 747 so it’d be cool if she were up there. Or with me in the nose. BUT, there’s no award space, even though there are 5 empty in F and 20+ in J. Flight leaves 00:50 on Dec 26. Do you think it’s worth calling and trying to reason with them? Try in the lounge the night of? I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t let someone use miles when there are so many empty seats 4 days from departure.
Any feedback will be much appreciated. You traveling this week?
James
James, I don’t think “reasoning” with them will do any good. You could always call and make a request, see what happens. Do you have miles ready in your SkyPass account if they agree since the flight is so close?
(also it’s not unusual for airlines to over book Y during peak holiday season and use empty premium cabin space to accommodate passengers)
And feel free to share pictures even if it is just here, we’d love to see them :).
