Istanbul Airport transit

Istanbul Airport transit

Hello. I’m thinking of traveling from ATL to BOM via Turkish Airlines business class. There’s a roughly 4+ hour transit time in IST on the outbound and return. I plan to just use the business lounge and not step outside the airport. I’ve read a few sites but am unclear if I need to apply and pay for the transit visa or not for a 4-hour layover? Thanks for your insight.

No, you should not need a visa as you won’t be clearing customs and entering Turkey.

You will be fine, as you have a confirmed outbound international flight. Also, IST provides sterile transfers, so you won’t even need to clear immigration like in the USA/Canada.

Thank you, MidSouth Skier and Owen. Would this also be the case if I were to transit through DOH?
