A friend and I are travelling to Africa in a month via Qatar Airways. We will be flying out from Hon Kong, with a transfer (obviously) in Doha.
We were able to initally snag roundtrip economy promo tickets for approximately $940. Awhile back, we noticed that Qatar was offering business class promo tickets on the same flights for about US$ 1340, i.e. 400 dollars more. We had a big debate about whether to upgrade or not (there is also a change fee, but we had to change flight dates anyways so that was sunk cost).
Love to hear your reasons on why it is worth it to upgrade, and why it is not.
