In flight issue compensation

In flight issue compensation

    hi

Flew DL GIG to ATL Sept 23 biz. After dinner asked for a drink (woodgford reserve), I had one ore dinner drink (dud the dine a d rest), the FA ( one of DL safety video poster kids) told me “we are going to pass on that one, you’ve had enough)…seriously?????my seat mate on 6th dewars on rocks. I asked if mistook me for someone else? He relented and produced drink.

Mid flight I’m woken up, same FA telling me to stay in my own seat. Horizontal, asleep and pillow separating me and adjoining seat mate. Are you kidding me???? Other pax asleep as I was??? Couldn’t believe what was happening. He just walked away. Needless to say I didn’t sleep for remaining 4 hours.

Delta call this morning, apologize and offer 9000 miles, I said that’s what you give for a broken power outlet…. oh ok here’s 11500. Well, we know how useless sky prays are but what is proper course of action, compensation and do you think a letter to FAA??

    Thank you

    John

John, can you clarify a bit what the issue was? The flight attendant thought you had too much drink? What is the bit about being woken up in your own seat?

I’m sorry, it is difficult to follow your story

    1. Has 2 cans of seltzer on boarding ( no alcohol pre boarding)
    2. Had one woodford reserve pre dinner
    3. Has Dine and Rest (express meal)
    4. After dinner asked another woodford – pursar, said “we are going to pass on that, you e had enough” ( I was in delta one/platinum ff).
    5. Asked him to clarify as I e had one drin in 24 hours….. he relented.
    6. Midflight woke me up – I was horizontal told me I was encroaching on neighbor (he was asleep) and encroaching on anything from horizontal mid section on 767 on delta is not easily done.
    7. He walked away.
    8. I was pissed. Of course couldn’t get back to sleep.
    9. Wrote complaint to DL, they called this morning offered 9K miles compensation “as we usually don’t for these matters”. I reminded them I got that for a broken power outlet. She upped to 11.5k as a one time exception.
    10. Reminded her of what had happened – this is not normal. She was no longer interested.
    11. As an aside I said it’s unfortunate enough, but the FA James is now the poster child for the DL safety video and if he representing DL worldwide one would expect more

    Thanks, John.

It sounds like for whatever reason, the flight attendant thought you had been over served. While he seems to have been wrong, it is such a slippery slope for the flight attendant or any bartender/server on a plane or on the ground. If they relent and offer you more drinks, and then an accident happens, that’s a pretty bad situation. Regardless, sounds like he made the wrong call which is easy to say in retrospect.

If you feel like you deserve more compensation for that situation, you could certainly respond back to the customer service rep and specify what exactly you are looking for. Personally, enough miles to cover giving Delta One another chance would seem like asking for too much. But, you will have to decide how much value you place on this and how much time you want to take to pursue.

I’m not sure what to suggest for the encroaching on your fellow passenger. This just confuses me. Did the other passenger say anything to you? This seems like a situation where a quick conversation with your seat mate would have politely solved any concern about personal space.

    Ricky; thank you.
The FAs personality can best be described as flamboyant with massive ego and no finesse.
The seat mate (a non rev bragged to me about the good sleep he was going to have have 6 double dewers on the rocks). He was sound asleep/unconscious when I was awakened to keep within the confines of my seat – it’s mindboggling I’m 5’5” 155 and couldn’t get out of the seat easily if I tried, and the crappy DL 767-400 delta one seats when in full recline are difficult if not impossible to get out to the rest room never mind move in on your neighbors real estate (and that would include getting over the console). Plain ludicrous. I’m not pursuing this any further now, but if I do get the contact details for head of delta customer service I will send a note….. best John
