Impossible to use avios

Impossible to use avios

I am a BA Exec Club Gold member and I do a lot of air travel, I have several hundred thousand avios points and I can never use them. Even when I look 11 or 12 months out there is never any availability to fly to Australia which is what I would like to do, prefereably in Business or at least in premium economy but even in eceonmy there seems to be no availability. Apart from the fact that BA are really hacking me off by “giving” me a reward I can’t use I also don’t seem to be able to see the correct availaibility, via the BA site, of other oneworld partner airlines. If I ask Qantas or Qatar they have reward flight availaibility but I can’t book it through BA and Avios seem to be a BA currency. I more or less have to fly with BA as I am London based and go all over the world and so they have the best schedules but is there a better way I can use my travel,
    – can I transfer avios to Qmiles or similar?
    – should I drop my BA membership and use a different oneworld members loyalty scheme but continue to fly with BA?
    – are there any other good suggestions as to how I can accrue a benefit that I can actually use?
thansk for your help – great web-site
    Jon

Maybe BA’s search engine is being weird. I see availability every day for Feb/Mar 2019 in business class, on a mix of BA, Qantas, and Malaysian
