Anonymous GuestHi Ben: I paid for a business class seat from CDG to JFK on Air France through a Delta codeshare for May 2019. Can I use Skymiles to upgrade to Air France La Premiere? When I called Delta, they said no seats were available. But when I went to the Air France site, not one First Class seat was sold. What gives?

You can’t use SkyMiles to access La Premiere, either through awards or upgrades, unfortunately.

Clem DiamondThe only way you can upgrade if you don’t have Flying Blue miles is to pay, and sometimes they have quite attractive upgrade offers at the airport. When you get to the airport go straight to ticketing, and ask if they have upgrades to La Première available. I’ve got one on this route for $1400 I believe. Yes, it is a hefty chunk of change, but it’s so exceptional that if you have an opportunity to do it, then do it :). Only if you depart from CDG or if you connect through Paris so you can enjoy the ground services; if not it’s probably not worth it.
