How Miles/Qualifying $ Will I Earn on My Mini-Lucky Trip?
Hello Lucky,
I will have the pleasure of experiencing “Living La Vida De-Lucky” soon. I have purchased the CX first class surprise fare (VN origin) and the Qatar business class special (Montreal origin) to position for the CX trip. I am an AAdvantage Executive Platinum member and I’m hoping the 2 trips will get me close to re-qualifying Executive Platinum for year 2020. Could you give me your opinion of how many “Qualifying Miles”, “Qualifying Spend $” and “Reward Miles Earned” on the below itinerary? Twice around the world in one trip…is that some type of record?
#1 YUL to ORD (Qatar Business Class via Air Canada flight)
#2 ORD to DOH (Qatar Business Class)
#3 DOH to BKK (Qatar Business Class) i will take Bangkok airways to HAN (clear customs HAN and overnight)
#4 HAN to HKG (Cathay Pacific Business Class)
#5 HKG to JFK (Cathay Pacific First Class)
#6 JFK to HKG (Cathay Pacific First Class)
#7 HKG to HAN (Cathay Pacific Business Class) (clear customs HAN and overnight) next day, I will take Bangkok airways to BKK
#8 BKK to DOH (Qatar Business Class)
#9 DOH to ORD (Qatar Business Class)
#10 ORD to YUL (Qatar Business Class via Air Canada flight)
I fly alot for work, but never a schedule like this one! Thanks for the inspiration!

The Cathay Pacific flights are either A or J fares. The Qatar flights are J fares
Great! Go to each respective airline’s chart on the AA page to find earning rates. You can use gcmap.com to plot your routing to see how many miles each segment is.
For example, HKG-JFK is 8072 miles.
CX A fares earn 100% on base miles, 50% cabin bonus, 1.5EQMs per mile and 30% EQDs
Given that you’re already EXP:
8072 Base
9686 EXP Bonus
4036 Cabin Bonus
Total 21794 redeemable miles
12108 EQMs
$2421 EQDs
