How long can you stay in an airport lounge?

How long can you stay in an airport lounge?

The question on the surface is how long can you stay in an airport lounge from a rules perspective and a proper decorum perspective?

The story is I’ll be flying into Abu Dhabi at approximately 1:20a (LHR to AUH if you were guessing), but do not want to head directly for the hotel in Dubai because I don’t want to pay for the extra night for only a couple of hours time. My plan was to stay in the Etihad Arrivals Lounge for a couple of hours and then head off to Dubai arriving maybe 5a to 6a. I can then start my day and not worry about the extra night.

Is it okay to stay in an arrivals lounge for an extended period of time (three hours approximately)?
Bonus Points: Can you delay the Etihad chauffeur at all or do they expect you to pass through immigration and immediately depart?

Oh that’s fine, I’ve done the same thing when trying to coordinate with a 2PM check-in time at Al Maha. I think we stayed 5 hours, and they thought we were crazy, but didn’t care otherwise. Car was ready when we were, not a problem at all.
