HKG airside transit 20 hours before flight.

HKG airside transit 20 hours before flight.

Hey guys, call me crazy for doing this but I have a great reason I promise !

So I plan to book a LAX-NRT-HKG flight such that I reach HKG on ANA 10:15pm on June 10th for example. I plan to fly a separate ticket on Royal Jordanian Business from HKG TO BKK and that flight leaves at 935pm, so this would of course be June 11th. I know HKG has transfer desks in the sterile transit area (according to their website), but How do these work? Is it like SIN which only issues a BP a few hours before flight. Because with a Royal Jordanian J ticket, that gives me about 7-8 lounges in HKG I think. You have all the Cathay lounges, Qantas Lounge, and RJ uses a plaza premium. The other lounges will be closed overnight but the plaza premium will be open in the night. So I wanted to get airside and spent the night relaxing at the PP lounge and then using the day to explore all other Oneworld lounges before my flight. At least in sin, you are already airside once you get off your plane so if your boarding pass can’t be issued, no problems, but in HKG you are in a sterile area which I’d rather not just sit forever. So I was wondering if they’d be able to issue a BP at the transfer desk the night before since it’s witthin the 24 hour window check in? Otherwise I’ll see if I can get an online boarding pass issued on RJ (first time flying them so not too sure how their booking works). If it doesn’t work and it requires a hotel stay at some hotel in HKG airport, then fine but anyone have any pointers for the transfer desk would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and cheers!

Hi Rohit, any reason why you’re not going into the city? I know it’s not the easiest trek, but 20 hours outside in the open air is way better than any lounge (even some of the best in the world in Hong Kong), in my opinion…

I’ve been through HK many times visiting some family and visiting the city. All have been on a single ticket. This time I wanted to spend the full day visiting all the OneWorld lounges at HKG just hopping around. But first of course I need to be able to re-clear security with a different ticket.

Agree with Ricky – the lounges in HKG are nice, but the city is much more interesting. 20 hours is plenty of time. By the time you get into the city explore, eat, get back out to the airport it will be morning. Nap in a lounge.

I’ve already been to the city and surrounding areas 5-6 times now, but anyways I’ve moved my flight back a day to visit again. So say I fly in June 12th night, I’ll spend the 13th in the city. And 14th is the RJ business flight at 930pm. Will they let me through if I go in the morning on the 14th? My only issue is getting through security. Once I’m airside I doubt any of the lounges will have issues If I don’t have a boarding pass as long as I have my valid ticket. But I don’t know what security’s story will be. Looking forward to hearing back!
