Hilton Honors Weekend Certificate Workaround?

Hilton Honors Weekend Certificate Workaround?

  1. Steve from LA Member

    Hi All,

My friend and I are looking to use 2 hilton honors weekend certificates. We found a property in Europe that looks perfect. I ran the search on the Hilton website and it shows a standard room available for the Saturday and Sunday night we want. However, when I called to book the room with our certificates I was told it was a no go. Since one of the certificates is mine and one is my friends there would need to be a standard room available for two separate one night stays. The standard room available for one two night stay would not work.

I HUCA and got a nicer agent at the Diamond desk. She suggested I book a two night stay using my certificate for one of the nights and points for the other one. She threw a few thousand points at my account for the inconvenience and said to keep an eye on the website. If separate standard room rates became available for a one night stay on a separate Saturday and Sunday reservation, we could cancel and rebooking using the two certificates.

Does anyone know a workaround so that my friend and I can use the two certificates for one 2 night stay under these circumstances? I have thought about putting her on my card as an authorized user. Anyone know if she would then be entitled to use the certificate associated with my credit card account? Or would that make no difference since it would still be two different hilton honors accounts? As alaways, thanks for any advice.

I’ve done this by booking one night and having my friend book the other night. When we arrive we explain that we’d like to keep the same room both nights. I’m not clear why that doesn’t work here because you say a standard room was available for both Sat & Sun. Usually if there’s a room available on points you can use the certificate. So I’m not sure I understand what the mix-up is here.

Sorry I am afraid I was less than clear. The only way the hotel is making a standard room available that weekend is for people committing to a two night stay. If you just want to stay Friday night, no standard room rate. If you just want to stay Saturday night, no standard room rate. But if you want to stay Friday and Saturday night, sure they will offer you a standard room rate. So they would be happy to let me use two weekend certificates as long as they were both mine. Otherwise no go and that is the boat I find myself in.

Ah, ok. Then yeah, I think you’ll have to do a cert for one night and points for the other. That’s a bummer.
