Help with trip to Dubai

Help with trip to Dubai

I would like to take my son to Dubai sometime in 2017. I have about 250k SPG points, and almost 250k Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Want to fly first class at least on the outbound flight. Is Emirates the best choice here?

How do I go about finding availability and price (in points/miles) of those first class seats? We live in the Midwest, so will have to fly to a major hub and don’t care which one. Any help/direction is appreciated.

Assume you want the A380, which would mean JFK or the west coast.

Conventional approach would be Alaska which is 300K one way for 2 eating up most of your SPG points. Or SPG them to Emirates for 136,250 x 2 to save a bit (but surcharges). Then use your Chase points to get back. Certainly doable.

Question is, can it be done round trip for 2 people in first class for 220K SPG points and surcharges? What if…

Haven’t looked at the JAL chart but might that be an option?
